I know, I'm very late in wishing everyone a Happy New Year, but I didn't want to overwhelm you all so soon after you'd finished off the turkey, the industrial strength size boxes of chocolates and put away the decorations...or have you just left them there for next year?
That said, I hope you'll have a wonderful 2016 filled with love, laughter and all the things that make your heart sing. And chocolate. We have the Olympics, Euro 2016 (Eng-urr-laanndd!), the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations and of course Wimbledon. It's going to be awesome.
I'm working feverishly on a new book while still promoting my other books and visiting schools. Drippy Face had an excellent launch in Thornbury on a blustery Winter's day. Shirley and I are working on something new and very exciting based on the book and I've also begun work on the second in the series. So actually, I'm working on more than one book plus a couple of TV scripts. Fame and fortune doesn't simply happen, you know? And of course, swimming.
I bought myself a fancy new waterproof MP3 player and can now swim up and down to the beats of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Caro Emerald. It makes a difference. After my first music fuelled swim I could hardly walk for three days due to stiffness. I also raced the man in the next lane. He didn't know I was racing him, so beating him wasn't much of an achievement. It did however bring out the competitive spirit I thought was lost somewhere in a pool in Africa.
Enjoy the year and please say hello if you pass me in the street, the cyber sphere or your dreams.
